Pure PTFE is used for many valve items such as body seals, stem seals, chevron seals, and ball seats. However, the use of filled PTFE compounds is now increasing and the Crossley Crossflon range of blended PTFE has improved resistance to deformation which, depending upon design, can give an increase in pressure and temperature ratings for these valves without increasing torque. Wear rates, creep resistance and deformation are also improved by the use of compounded PTFE grades.
In addition to the seals and seats, Beldam Crossley have developed valve stem bearings manufactured from Crossley Crossflon® Unimesh, this is an ideal bearing material for use on “valve stem spindles”, and it combines all the qualities needed to function in adverse conditions, for example, extremely high loads, confined bearing space, long life and low coefficient of function.
Beldam Crossley, with 50 years experience in the production of PTFE valve components can not only offer PTFE and Crossflon grades, but also seats and seals in PEEK G450 and a variety of filled grades of PEEK, along with seats in Polyamide (Nylon) 6, 66, 6-10 and a range of reinforced grades to meet the needs of the valve industry.
