PTFE MACHINED BELLOWS

The exceptional properties of PTFE have opened up many new opportunities across all aspects of industry. It is chemically inert, does not age and has an operating temperature range of between -240°C (-400°F) and +200°C (+392°F).

PTFE is also unaffected by virtually all liquids and gasses, except fluorine and molten alkali metals.

Beldam Crossley Bellows made from PTFE are now specified for highly corrosive systems and for low and high temperature applications, as well as where solvents, lubricants and food stuffs are involved.

Type ‘M’ Bellows
Standard type ‘M’ Bellows are produced by machining the convolutions from a stock PTFE core. Because of their durability, high strength and pressure resistance, these bellows are ideally suited for mechanical seal elements and on glass pipe liners.

M-Type Bellows

Type ‘V’ Bellows
Standard type ‘V’ Bellow’ convolutions are cut into the core instead of being machined. Although they have greater flexibility for a given length, they have a lower pressure rating. ‘V’ Bellows are used to absorb vibration, to correct misalignment and to protect other components from dirt and splashing. On low-pressure pipelines they absorb expansion and provide a long working life.

V-Type Bellows

Custom Made Bellows
A full and comprehensive range of non-standard type bellows can be supplied. These include Plug Bellows for use in process plant valves and Stainless Steel/PTFE composite bottom outlet bellows units for use in chemical reaction vessels.

With over 50 years of experience in the manufacture and design of PTFE Bellows units, Beldam Crossley are able to offer a complete design and build package to meet the lastest European pressure equipment directive 97/23/EC and the demands of the chemical process and food market.
