Crossflon 905 is without doubt, one of the most all-round, high performance, self-lubricating reinforced PTFE compounded materials available in today's market. Continually developed over the past 15 years, the Crossflon 905 sleeve, flanged bearings and thrust bearings range can operate un-lubricated at PV values up to 0.78, with static loads of 14 MPa. Its high wear resistance make it the engineers choice for low maintenance applications.
Load
Crossflon 905 bearings are capable of operating, when runnng dry, up to loads of 14MPa at very slow surface speeds. Using careful design and lubricants, higher loading can be achieved
Speed
Dry running at low loads with a maximum speed of 2µm/sec will give excellent running life. The use of cooling fluids will permit higher speeds with little increase in wear.
Friction
Stick-slip is not a problem with Crossflon 905
Mating Surface
Crossflon 905 bearings operate best when the shaft or mating surface is steel with a minimum hardness of Rc35
Temperature
Crossflon 905 bearings will operate between -250ºC and +250ºC
Surface Finish
A surface finish between 0.2 - 0.6µm is recommended to achieve optimum life for the bearings. Excellent results have been achieved running against cold rolled steel, but as with all PTFE based bearings, transfer of material from the bearing to the running face in initial start-up is essential to achieve optimum friction and life expectancy.
